2006-11-20 00:22:00 s what does this mean for skytv nz? Can they just release a software update to fix the problem or what? lance4k (4644)
2006-11-20 00:35:00 I would say so it would mean sky would have to download the software to all 600,000 + subscribers for it to work. Typical yank company orbital is costing these companys a lot of money in lost revenue and extra resources to fix this muck up. Hitech (9024)
2006-11-20 00:36:00 Would D2 be a better solution later down the track..?
Sue orbital.

2006-11-20 02:13:00 it wouldn't cost skytv that much to upgade all the software for their 600,000 customers would it? how much would it cost? And i thought the hardware on the satellite is aligned vertically and it's ment to be horizontally,so how can updating the software fix this problem is there is no beam for nz?

2006-11-20 04:51:00 The satellite is alignned vertically but its meant to be for ozzie on that part of it and we are meant to be horizontally but cause of the stuff up we are on the vertical with aussie as well the australasian spot beam as they call it. If you read the link i posted earlier at the top of the page you will see that sky say it is possible to fix this problem by leaving it vertically and downloading the correct software for it as to fix it. I dare say that with the wonders of modern technoloy today they can do it more than just one way but not the way the'yd originally have liked it i suppose. Hitech (9024)
2006-11-21 08:22:00 Just reading through the geek zone forums and it turns out that optusD1 ended up transmitting its signal in parts of australia that have pay per view but not from optus D1, Naughty satellite. Hitech (9024)
