500414 2006-11-19 08:19:00 I presume a few people have been following the launch of The Playstation 3, after reading the reports do people still have the same expectations?, Decided not to buy one?, Not bothered by the initial reviews?, Still think its some sort of super computer?, or capable of graphics superiour to everything else on the planet?

For those that haven't followed it the launch titles are reported to be graphically worse then the same game on the X box 360, and it seems they can't run at a constant frame-rate.

500415 2006-11-19 08:27:00 Ok stupid question time................when is it to be launched?
i was looking at getting a ps2, and will most likly stay with that idea...will ps3 alter the prices of a ps2 ? (by xmas for xmas)

and what is bigger better and more useless for us to use on ps3? why do we need it? can we still play ps1 and ps2 games on it? what price bracket are we looking at?

not that i play much games any more, but for the kids if it goes it has to be a bonus....
technology bigger better and brighter......... doesnt usually mean its good or better than ever does it? so its gonna be a bit like Vista? all talk and no joy?

could be wrong i guess...

500416 2006-11-19 08:32:00 America and US launch only at this stage, Penciled in to arrive in NZ about march, and at about $1000 (insert swear word here).

If it were me I would be looking at a Nintendo Wii, Looks like far more fun with the control design, Kids would love it. (though I dont know when they will be released in NZ)

500417 2006-11-19 08:33:00 There's been comments that it looks like a George Foreman grill. It's quite a bit larger than the original PS2. I'll be staying away, while I expect it will do well, it won't do so for at least a year. DangerousDave (697)
500418 2006-11-19 08:48:00 I hope it works better than a G Foreman Grill does ! ! I now understand why all his working life George was faced with people trying to deck him.
If you are any relation to the Dangerous Dave in the fine old game, I hope you will forgive me for the unnecessary deaths I caused your namesake over the years.

500419 2006-11-19 08:50:00 The shape reminds me of a really old console. It looks rather ugly compared to the 360.

I don't play games very often anymore, so it is hard to justify spending that much money on a games console.

I'll make my 3 year old computer last another year or two.

 Is that the RRP, or did the retailer put a huge markup on it for no better reason than people will pay it on launch day?

yea, the physical design on the thing is dirt ugly.

I have a friend who has just picked one up in japan. Have yet to hear is views. But i have a close friend who has had family in america get one, and apparently the games that are out at the moment are ****house, and they're saying the xbox360 is a better option at the moment.

500423 2006-11-19 09:04:00 Speaking of rip-offs, The Nintendo Wii is going to be on the market for $250 US, which comes to $374 NZ, yet Noel Leemings have them listed at $500.

And yes, I realise we are a smaller market and on the bottem of the world but If i can purchase one item from a retailer in the US and get it sent all the way around the world and dropped off at my door for $100 less then what they are listed at a major NZ retailer then someone has arse-jacked the prices.
