| 499617 | 2006-11-17 03:53:00 | Hmm well i've been living in new zealand for 15 years now.I came here when i was 6 years old.Although I spent a majority of my life here than in hong Kong.I will probably go back to hong kong. My girlfriend and are I studying at massey university. She has been trying to look for a job and I will try to find a job in the next month or two. She has applied 8 different jobs and has had no replies. It's very hard finding jobs in NZ.Not being racist or anything. It's just that most of the people are likely to choose european over asians or other ethnics. My father once said to me.You won't die living in NZ and you certainly won't go rich. You have enough to eat only but you won't have much business opportunities. Even my friend who's born in NZ really wants to move in japan because of backwardness in NZ and the fact GST and income tax is so high. I don't want to spend 15 minutes downloading powerpoint slides from dialup at home at massey website.Broadband is quite costly as well. There are people that like to live in NZ and there are some things which I like in NZ but after I graduate I will probably go back to live. Lots of food to eat.Lots of things to do. If i go rich I'll buy a big house for my future wife. There is BB100 100mbps download and upload at I think $340HK They don't have a set rate of broadband prices because their prices change all the time. They also often offer you free stuff like cable tv if you join their broadband. There is no data cape in Hk.You can stream and download all you like.Everything is fibre optic. I enjoy the fast pace of life I can't stand the slow pace here.I update my mobile every 12 months maybe cause I don't like the slow pace of life:D Everything is so cheap in Hk.A USB extension Cord Costs $16 at Dicksmith and it only costs $3 to buy in Hk. NZ life is not very suitable for me but i have alot of friends here.I wonder why in the business sector in NZ the employer always chooses the european over other ethnics. If a European person and a Asian person both have the same qualification they'll choose the European. This is not the case in hk.If you have the ability they'll hire you no matter if your white, black, pink, purple, red, violet etc... |

| 499618 | 2006-11-17 03:58:00 | I buy my clothes at the safety shop, I'm all style. Anyhow, Perhaps its just that the items being imported are mostly cheap crap as these are easiest to quickly sell. I've noticed many new faces in the heavy industries pushing new brands, all cheap, all sourced from China, all that I have seen so far failed to do the required job and expired within an unacceptable time frame, everything from rock breakers, crushers, hydrolic rams, tractors, stationary motors, Industrial blades, Power Packs, The list goes on and on. I'm quite happy to accept that good quality gear can come from China, Though after having experience with what would amount to approx 200 grand of gear sourced from China I am still yet to see anything of quality. Though its a foolish man who buys on price alone. |

| 499619 | 2006-11-17 04:00:00 | One thing good about NZ is the control over fake things Without experience you are likely to buy fake items from China You even have mobiles that are refurbished in Hk and without experience it is hard to tell if its genuine NZ life is much more simple unlike the rest of the world. |

| 499620 | 2006-11-17 04:01:00 | well, I wanna say what I saw,the products in most of websites in my eyes , it's fall behind of China, mainboard ,video card, and others ,my brothers study in Massey University ,every year he came back to China ,he will buy lots of hardware back to NZ ,he told me that in NZ ,the product maybe is 1-2 year after China . and most of the product is import from China. | Simon Zeng (11472) | ||

You want to know how many I applied for down here?? 62. And I'm a white kiwi. Don't assume its because of being asian. You probably have terrific English being here for so long and arriving at a young age. Thats usually the thing that puts them off. Give it a proper chance, being a graduate you will have limited experience. And it depends on the number of applicants around for that particular industry too. |

| 499622 | 2006-11-17 04:03:00 | Computer gear is only a couple of months behind the American market, though the high end CPU's are hard to source and cost a lot. | Metla (12) | ||
| 499623 | 2006-11-17 04:06:00 | Oh and Metla - you know the Chinese make some terrific furniture. I have a solid oak dining suite, with inlay on the top, inner sprung chairs with it, carved and utterly gorgeous. I showed my father as he does a bit of furniture making and woodworking and he said the same - China makes some great stuff in this line. I agree there are some things they make that I wouldn't go near - but this was brilliant. |

| 499624 | 2006-11-17 04:06:00 | Predictions are that prices will rise in China, they are being held artificially low because the Chinese currency exchange rate is being manipulated by your Government to stimulate growth in your country. In the long run this situation will not continue. Prices are always high here in NZ because of lack of competition, transport costs (does not really explain why software is expensive here) and rip-off businessmen. Our total population here is ~= 4,000,000. I always wonder how long Communism will last.I don't really like communism system.Sure the idea is good but there's alot of corrupted politicals. The *Communism* system is good.Sharing and giving so everyone gets equal sharing but not all humans are like this |

She'll keep trying. She has applied 3 more jobs When She Meantioned the fact she has worked in her family's takeaway shop they think of that as having no experience in customer service at all. She got a little upset about that. |
