499818 2006-11-18 11:01:00 It was damp & chilly.

It gave me a perfect excuse NOT to go rushing off somewhere high to see an iceberg in the distance..
Enough people are already doing it.

And the TV pix are fascinating enough.

Edit: Gee, what a wimp. What happened to my sense of adventure?
Somebody must've flogged it...

499819 2006-11-18 17:03:00 We are terribly miserable under clear skies, hot temperatures and dry air for what is supposed to be our intro to Winter . . . it being Fall here and the temps are not where they are supposed to be .

Should be cooler and windy with a hint of fireplace smoke in the nostrils, and leaves falling to the ground . Roses haven't been trimmed back for the frost and we can probably get a few more days of the blooms until the first freeze .

Seems the seasonal changes aren't coming this year . Still under "Red Flag" fire and wind warnings, as the fire season has been extended for a few more weeks now .

Football, American style, isn't the same when the players are afraid of heat prostration and dehydration . . . . when they should be instead worried about frostbite on their fingers and noses .

Last year, fer'instance, we had snow in the local mountains and the ski season was off on a good base by this time .

Ah! Well . . out to sunbathe for a while . . working on my tan in November . . . to beat all!

499820 2006-11-18 20:13:00 At the cottage right now, had 1" of rain last night (with an awesome electrical storm) and had the fire going all day today.

But have got plenty of painting done...
Ah,nice to see you found time to paint, would you say your painting is reminiscent of Constable,or more Renoir?

499825 2006-11-19 00:25:00 I'm good . Currently "checking my emails" for free in the State Library of Melbourne after giving "Mr Smith" (he who has new sunnies) the slip for the first time in nearly a week . He's been holding the leash pretty tight every time we pass an internet cafe but I've alleviated the withdrawal symptoms by giving the plastic card a good thrashing so it's not all bad .

Right now it's a balmy 27 deg outside, quite a bit warmer than the 14 deg back home, so the visit to the market to get some tiger prawns and other goodies will be a quick one, then it's off down to the Waterfront for a wander around and some lunch . Half of the central city here is blocked off with the G8 (or whatever it is) summit but hopefully things will be back to normal again tomorrow .

Uh oh, I've been spotted . . . time to go!! :xmouth:

I am glad I am not the only one who gets withdrawal symptoms :D :p
