718172 2008-11-07 00:48:00 A Faulty SATA Cable/ Connection shouldn't cause the Monitor to turn off / Display like mentioned, what you would get is "Device" not found, system Boot Disk Failure etc Press any key to reboot--- Still looking for the "Any" Key :D wainuitech (129)
718173 2008-11-07 01:07:00 True, well if it continues, I'll take the mobo back and get it replaced. Since its still under warranty. Only got it in July.

BUT, somehow I dont think it'll be the mobo either.

If it was major, it probably wouldnt go at all

And I cant change the video connection, since its onboard (DVI). Only thing I can test is the onboard VGA connection, with the spare CRT in the bedroom

Only other thing I can change in the BIOS, is the Primary display adapter (Its on PCIex, which is default and what its on now), and has PCI slot (theres no video in a PCI slot), or OnchipVGA, which I take it, means the onboard normal VGA/video?

718174 2008-11-07 01:29:00 See what happens in the morning -

Still may be a board though, I had a problem with a customers Gigabyte Board last year - it kept changing the CPU speed, (so it said) and wouldn't start till you told it to set back to default - Kept saying it had been over clocked, reset the BIOS, checked the CPU clock speed on startup and it read as it was meant to, tried changing the CMOS battery, flashing the BIOS, made no difference.

The person had enough problems working the dialup Internet connection - so over clocking a CPU would be right out of the question. On the odd occasion, it also dropped the Keyboard PS/2 Mouse was fine, reboot and it went OK again.

Only did this first start up in the day, ( even at my workshop) once it started, you could turn it off for an hour, reboot and it never played up till the following morning. Once going it ran with out any problems.

Changed the board - same CPU, RAM etc no more problems. ( Original board was about 1.5 years old)

718175 2008-11-07 01:38:00 I read on some sites, ram can cause this prob as well.

Some people managed to get it going again (they had a similar prob, the monitor showed nothing), by removing the ram and cleaning the contacts.

So, I've just done that as well. And put them back. There was a bit of dust, so I blew it.

Dont know if that'll help or not

The other AMD (the one you sent the CPU for), has a DVI connection. So I could try this LCD on it for a few days. And see what happens

I could try a VGA cable on this (its got 1 DVI / 2 VGA inputs), but I dont have any VGA cables.

718176 2008-11-07 02:16:00 Yeah - Dust in the memory slots can cause problems.

Prob a bit late now - But I'd suggest not changing to many things at once, because if it works you wont know what was the fault.

Makes it a LONG process if it will only do it from cold first thing in the morning. Would make it a LOT easier if you could replicate the problem on demand.

Please feel free to use the ulitimate "Fix it Tool " in the top line of my sig. :)

718177 2008-11-07 02:21:00 What Superantispy? Ccleaner?

Dont think either will fix a monitor, thats starting to play up lol

Or whatever the prob maybe.. Think I'll wait till middle of next week. If its still doing it, back goes the mobo, for a replacement

718178 2008-11-07 03:04:00 What Superantispy? Ccleaner?

 No Mate - you must be having a good day :)

The first line -- If at First you Can't Fix it - Get a Bigger Hammer!!:badpc:

718179 2008-11-07 03:13:00 Try changing the CMOS battery. jwil1 (65)
718180 2008-11-07 03:48:00 Dont think the battery is the prob, or it wouldnt save/keep settings. It does

I've just disabled HPET in the bios (something to do with timing, if you use Vista, and multimedia). Since I dont use Vista

Dont know if that'll make any diff, since it was enabled before and everything was fine

WT, Better to chuck it outside here. Its a main intersection here. Everything including buses to and from town come through here.. A lot better than a hammer and more damage

718181 2008-11-07 19:22:00 OK, took this to bits this morning, to see if anything was shorting.

Connected the PSU up again. Nothing on the monitor. Tried another PSU, nothing on the screen.

Tried the old CRT, (using VGA) which I'm using now, its fine. The screen comes up.

Tried the LCD on this morning as well. still wouldnt work (nothing would appear on the screen). BUT, I've tried the LCD on the 754 in the bedroom (using VGA and DVI, and it worked both times).

I thought the prob was the monitor itself, or the DVI cable. Obviously not, because the LCD works in the bedroom?

So, its not the PSU in this, because the screen wouldnt turn on with the other PSU either.

I thought the DVI cable was the prob, it isnt, since its working on the PC in the bedroom. The VGA port on this cant be the prob, obviously, because I'm using it right now. But then why wont it work with the LCD??
