500208 2006-11-20 08:15:00 Righto, played around with Google page creator and made a couple of further pages. I've also expanded bits of the original page. If I can enthuse anyone to go to India, I'll have done something right. The experience was so much richer and more intense than I ever expected - and I'd go back tomorrow.

500209 2006-11-20 09:50:00 That was fascinating, Winston.

What a good idea to divide it into sections like that - each with a different theme. A mammoth writing task in all.

I found answers to all of my initial questions as I went along.
That's not to say there won't be more later...

Oh yes, how big is the elephant?

500210 2006-11-20 20:59:00 Hi guys....

I have been to India twice for more than 3 months.....

1st time 1991, didnt really like it, couldnt eat anything! Went up to Syrinigar and stayed on house boats, up into the glasiers. Then made my way down to Goa, for 2 weeks of chill-out with the hippies at Bagga/Anguna beach....LOL

2nd time was 2002 with a lady friend this time who had also travelled around India before, however alot more than me..
We did the south of India this time, cant remember how to spell half these names.

I have to say, India is one of the best places in the world to travel. It is differcult, dirty, a culture shock, cheap and has so much to see. You need about 6 months & even that is no enough..

Oh India......

500211 2006-11-20 22:10:00 Oh yes, how big is the elephant?

In the words of Neddy Seagoon, "Bigger than a breadbox, smaller than a common-or-garden battleship" . :D

Indian elephants are smaller than their African cousins but up close and personal, they make the average cow look like a pup . They are big .

500213 2006-11-20 23:37:00 And in the words of Billy Bunter: "Oooo..eerrr!

So how did someone drop one of those through a car window into your hand?

(Ahem. It was actually the stone version you mentioned that I meant...)

Oh....that elephant. About the size of a guinea-pig, but quieter. :)

500215 2006-11-21 08:07:00 About the size of a guinea-pig, but quieter. :) Guinea-pigs are noisy? I had pet ones and they only sometimes let out wheek-wheek noises. :illogical

Great reading your travel notes - thanks for posting them. :)

500216 2006-11-23 22:48:00 Fascinating to read your travel notes, Winston! Will have to go through them again . Many points of interest, one being the different work habits and approaches of the Brits, Kiwis, Canadians and the one sole American in your group .

Not many New Zealanders will have had their photo taken with Miss India ;)
She sounds a really nice sound person, not affected by her status :)
