2008-11-09 04:54:00 | i tried installing the following updates but they try installing every time the computer shuts down and since they won't install i changed them to download but update when i give them notice so i get the yellow icon in the sys tray. but i don't know what ones are stuffing up so to speak...i don't care if ms office wont update and i have to stop them from downloading alltogether coz the first update keeps re downloading from the update server and its a 101 mb download!!! I don't use any office programmes much except for word and that's once in a blue moon. the others such as general security updates i need the updates that are downloaded are office 2003 sp3 security update ms off kb953404 s/u ms off kb954478 s/u ms win xp kb958644 update for ms outlook junk filter kb95725 ms silverlight k3957938

2008-11-09 06:44:00 | I had this same problem on one machine Look in event viewer I'm sure you find its the outlook junk filter that's failing to install Try downloading them from windows update 1 by one manually

2008-11-09 06:46:00 | The Junk filter update may fail, if a previous install, is already installed. Uninstall the old one, before you install the new one

2008-11-09 06:53:00 | Try downloading Dial A Fix (www.softpedia.com) Open the program, run it and select all boxes, once done reboot then try downloading the updates by going to the windows updates ( Start/All Programs/ Windows updates) and see if they now install. DONT try Via the automatic updates. | wainuitech (129) | |
2008-11-09 06:57:00 | You can also go to C:\WINDOWS\SoftwareDistribution folder Open the ReportingEvents file That'll tell you what succeeded (and what failed with a code). Type / copy / paste that code in Google. To see what it means, and how to fix it
