718959 2008-11-09 02:40:00 I have just rebuilt my old Omnibook (was bored) that has a Toshiba DVD-ROM DS-C2502 drive installed. The drive will not read some CD-RW disc's but my PC can read them without a problem. System is telling me there is no issue with the drive. Not sure what the issue is. Any help would be appreciated. Also what is a .APM file extension? annied8 (4928)
718960 2008-11-09 02:51:00 Try right click drive>properties>Recording tab(i think)>enable CD recording.

As for .apm files, resd this (filext.com)

718961 2008-11-09 03:32:00 Some old Rom drives can't read rw CD's as the format has changed slightly over the years, It was mentioned in a thread recently somewhere but haven't done a search for it gary67 (56)
718962 2008-11-10 01:39:00 the ultra speed (eg: 24x/32x) CD-RW discs cannot be written to in some older drives (I have had this problem myself) although reading maybe fine.

If it used to read the disks, maybe it needs a clean of the lens (if it's a laptop drive then more likely to get stuff on it as it's exposed when you pull it out)
