500143 2006-11-17 23:35:00 I brought my ipod about 2 years ago, and it had a pretty hard life, rolled bowled and dropped. After a while it stopped working and the hdd started making a clicking noise. So I rang up farmers where I brought it from and asked if I had got the extended warranty, they said no. So out with the screw drivers to open it up, and ****ed it some more.
About a day later the wife finds the receipt with the extended warranty on it. Now I'm fuming as I thought there would be no way they would fix it after my butcher job on it. Sent it away and about 6 weeks later get a phone call from the repair company asking for my serial number, saying that they had recieved the unit, but had gone missing. so a week after that phone call a courier package arrives with a brand new ipod video in it and a note apologiseing for losing the original.
So i would like to thank the careless company that lost my ipod and gave me the free upgrade

500144 2006-11-17 23:59:00 There is a moral here.
It's an ill wind that doesn't blow in the odd silver-lined cloud.
Never count your chickens 'till they've crossed the road, and save the paperwork.

500145 2006-11-18 01:13:00 Hi R2X1
Good to hear that you got a replacement. I bought an extended warranty for my 20Gig 4th generation iPod. This was over and above the standard one year warranty. After only 13 months operation the click wheel stubbornly refused to move, even after I re-set which apparently generally fixes such a problem.

Took the unit back to Harvey Norman and no problem at all. They sent over to Aussie and within 4-5 days (I think it was, anyway a short period) I got a brand new replacement unit.

500146 2006-11-18 02:10:00 I similar thing happened to my mate.
He has a Sony PSP. On new years eve last year we were pretty drunk and he decided he wanted to chuck someone in the pool. In the end it was him that ended up in the pool along with his PSP which was in his pocket.
We tested it that night but it wouldn't even turn on.
After leaving it in the hot water cupboard for a day it would power on but could not read any UMD discs.
He decided to send it away to get repaired at his cost as this sort of damage is obviously not covered by warranty.
After waiting around for a couple of weeks he rang Sony and they said they never received it. Turns out the courier "lost" it so he got a brand new one.
