But no lights on keyboard or mouse (these do work for couple seconds when first turned on) Have unplugged everything and re plugged in, have held power button in and waited for it to turn off, then turned on again...still no luck??? | 719622 | 2008-11-11 21:49:00 | Are you getting any hard disk activity indicated by the LED on the front of the PC? With a normal boot you'll get reasonably continuous activity until XP has started. Just wondering whether your monitor/graphics card isn't working whilst everything else is... |

When the machine first starts again it will generally list some equipment that is installed in your machine, amount of memory, hard drives installed etc. At this point you should gently tap the F8 key repeatedly until you are presented with a Windows XP Advanced Options menu. 3. Select the option for Safe Mode using the arrow keys. 4. Then press enter on your keyboard to boot into Safe Mode. 5. Do whatever tasks you require and when you are done reboot to boot back into normal mode. - then post an update with results |

| 719624 | 2008-11-12 00:12:00 | Welcome to PF1 - When you try to start the PC have a look at the Monitor- there will be a LED shining, is it orange/brown or green ( usually, some are blue these days)?? If it doesn't change to green when you turn on the PC then the signal is not getting from the PC to the Monitor - this could mean a faulty motherboard component or a failed connection either on the monitor or the monitor Lead. Do you have another monitor to plug in and try ? |

| 719625 | 2008-11-13 03:22:00 | Thanks guys...i'll give all that a go. Also my monitor light goes green when first turned on, but after couple of seconds goes to orange (standby)?? Nothing will come up on screen at all. Hard drive seems to be going OK, lights flashing and all that, but will try few things. Cheers for the help :) |

Had this same prob with my work PC, unplugging everything and replugging in seemed to work that time, but not on this PC??? Still really stuck as to what to do... | Boozehag (14308) | ||
| 719628 | 2008-11-14 01:07:00 | Restart the PC - go into the BIOS ( Or Try) - if its a PC that someone made up try hitting the Delete key to enter the BIOS, other wise try F2 or F5, or let us know the brand Name- Assuming you can get into the BIOS - look through the menus ( or on the right hand side) and see what keys you need to press to set it back to defaults / or optimized default. Select the appropriate keys and then try rebooting. |
