719468 2008-11-11 07:22:00 I thought I might update Internet Explorer using the November '08 DVD, however something seems to hsve gone backwards. Prior to "updating", I had IE7 (Version 7.0.5730.13), now I have IE6 (version 6.0.2900.2180 etc, etc). Any ideas on what went wrong and how to get IE7 back? I don't have broadband and don't particularly want to tie up a phone line for hours downloading updates. spriggels (14304)
719469 2008-11-11 07:41:00 So, why did you install IE 6, if you had IE 7??

I thought the install would have stopped, if it had noticed IE 7 was installed

Do a system restore back to before IE 6 was installed. Does IE 6 appear in Add/remove programs?

719470 2008-11-12 19:57:00 Thanks for advice. Did a restore back to "after installing XP SP3" but before using cover CD. Result - IE7 was partly there, in particular, no toolbars visible, just the address box and line. Tried re-installing IE7 off the cd but ended up with the machine cycling through reboots. Shut it down overnight, while I regained control of my temper. This morning it clanked slowly to life, but now IE won't start up at all! Perhaps I'll go back further with system restore and rebuild slowly!:( spriggels (14304)
