| 501857 | 2006-11-25 04:27:00 | Allow 8 hours to get from Wellington to Auckland. And sadly about the same time from Takapuna to Mt Wellington via public transport. | Sweep (90) | ||
| 501858 | 2006-11-25 04:57:00 | Midnight to 6 am - 30 minutes. The rest of the time - 3 hours. Slow drivers! Takapuna to Mt Wellington is just 20 minutes outside of peak hours, but that assumes no delays at spaghetti junction. It can be a bit slower at present because they are implementing some aspects of the Akoranga Drive/Barrys Pt Rd/Esmonde Rd interchange and busway project which confuses drivers who normally operate on autopilot at that hour of the morning. At peak time it would be a bad day that took 1 hour, I would expect to get from home to Mt Wellington in 45-50 minutes. The reverse trip at crawl time (late afternoon) rarely takes me longer than 35 minutes. These times assume that you don't go to sleep at the wheel, and take advantage of the occasional opportunity to advance your progress by running down pedestrians from Wellington or places South. | 501859 | 2006-11-25 05:59:00 | Public transport from Taka to Mt Wellington could be fun. Probably best bet is bus from Taka to Devonport, ferry to the city then train from Britomart (across from ferry building) to Mt Welly. Driving from taka to city at the moment is hell, I don't do rush hour but the other day the new 'over ramp' from Barrys Point Rd to the motorway took 30 mins, then trip to city 10 mins. |
