(with the exception of animated material).

sad thing is some of the animated material is fact - did anyone see the scientology/mormonism/alcoholism episodes of south park?

but yeah it's good to see my parents aren't the only ones

501734 2006-11-26 09:08:00 Numbers is fear mongering now. I expected them to have a bit more respect for geekdom since the show is based around dramatising it. Greven (91)
501735 2006-11-26 20:49:00 firstly, how does the IP address, (which is dynamic in most parts of the world so it is always changing whenever they reconnect/reset router), give an email address? they would have to contact the ISP which would have to give the customer details which does not include a guarantee that anything beyond the billing adress and landline number is correct (which i'm pretty sure would be a breach of privacy -not that they have any in the states)Gaining an IP address is not an anonymous process. There are logs created in the ISP servers. You may not know this but recent security law changes have required ISPs to retain these records and pass them onto law enforcement agencies if requested. The "IT Guy" may have requested this access prior to the scene shown.

All internet communications, be it email, web, etc. is tracked by either ISP or often governments, i.e. the NSA, FBI, CIA, MI5/6 or our own SIS. Ever heard of "echelon", do a search sometime, some comments may be far fetched or out of date, but it does indicate the level of monitoring that was carried out and if you saw US news about electronic eavesdropping by the NSA and endorsed by Bush, you should know that there is more to this.
