720166 2008-11-14 04:29:00 Hi There

I have a Canon IP4500 and am wondering about getting the cartridges refilled as at $25 for the small ones and $29 for the large black, it seems very expensive for a few drops of ink.... I live near Hamilton - any comments or suggestions please?

TIA

720167 2008-11-14 04:49:00 Not if you don't want clogged up jets on your printer and less quality in your colours.
Voids your warranty if it is still under warranty.

I have two Epson 8 colour inkjets and both use at least a full set of cartridges every two weeks, even at that cost I would never use refilled or non Epson inks.

You may have been able to get away with it once but modern printers are not very forgiving.

720169 2008-11-14 04:59:00 If you can't afford genuine ink, you should look for a cheap printer with cheap genuine ink - it will save you a lot in the long term & you obviously aren't that worried about print quality if you are looking at getting your ink refilled. I think that epson has cheap genuine ink, and other brands might too - look at the prices for genuine ink from all brands Greven (91)
720170 2008-11-14 05:06:00 If you are printing a lot of Black & White get a Laser they are way cheaper to run.
Just use your Inkjet for colour work.

You can get a Brother Laser printer reasonably cheaply they are good lasers.

720171 2008-11-14 05:07:00 Well I have owned a Canon Pixma MP500 for the past 3 years and all I use is refilled cartridges from Cartridge World. Never had any problems. I am not into printing pictures - thats what proper photo places are for.
I am a student so the printer gets used alot.
And why throw away the empty cartridges when a refill works. Thats the Tree Hugger gene expressing itself.

720172 2008-11-14 05:14:00 I got one cartridge from Cartridge World a few years ago and the colour was crap. I threw it out after 2 prints. Bantu (52)
720173 2008-11-14 05:30:00 Well I am not that fussed about quality to be honest - I used to refill my earlier Canon with Calidad ink and had no issues at all.... I have a Cartridge World in Hamilton so might give them a whirl.... The warranty has expired so that is not an issue and with the current price of printers if this one gets binned - so be it... 720174 2008-11-14 05:45:00 I have been using Ink Post for the past 5 years .No problems at all with my canon IP2000 printer Ninjabear (2948)
720175 2008-11-14 06:45:00 Some prints crap out quick if you use refurbished or refilled cartridges - Seen many people who have had problems with different cartridges, either " compatible" or refills- put in a genuine cartridge and no problems.

Take my own HP OfficeJet V-40, 5 years old and works like a charm- try putting in any Non hp cartridge and it spits the dummy and simply refuses to print anything, even refilled HP cartridges from Cartridge world - wont work.

As Bantu said
If you are printing a lot of Black & White get a Laser they are way cheaper to run  The laser I have is Lexmark E120N Toner is about $120, lasts about 4.5 - 5 reams of paper Per cartridge.
