| 720108 | 2008-11-14 00:24:00 | Hi There I have set up the fax consule on XP Pro in my PC. I have separate fax and phone numbers however the fax and phone is connected by a splitter plug adapter i.e. From one phone jack I have a splitter jack with which the fax line goes into one and phone into the other socket. I can receive and send faxes however if the phone is answered (from an incoming call on the phone number) I can hear the fax noise (which is loud). Telecom have told me the lines are all working okay so it must be something in my setup of the fax on XP that is doing this. Does anyone have any idea what I may have to do to fix this problem? Thanking you Nick |

| 720110 | 2008-11-14 22:22:00 | Thanks CyaBro I set the fax consule to manual answer and did not have have the problem of the phone calls received having the fax noise overide it however having the fax on manual meant obviously that the fax consule would not pick up the fax being sent. When you talk about "If so have you set the fax/modem in XP to faxability so that it doesn't answer phone calls?", is the set up in the fax consule or somewhere else as I cannot see anything in XP which says anything about the faxability and its set up (I do have faxibility) Thanks again Nick |

| 720112 | 2008-11-16 00:08:00 | Confused here..........> My XP uses a phone modem and NOT the DSL modem to send/receive faxes doh! of COURSE it will have "fax sounds" on the phone line. (boop-beep-squack-whoop-deep-dop-screech-snarffle-rasp) That's the way it works at least on my XP machines. I can be on line with the DSL side and still send a fax ON THE DIAL-SIDE at the same time. It will tie up both sides of the COMM line that way and if you pick up the phone, you're gonna hear the fax send/receive if it's also going on. |
