720012 2008-11-13 05:52:00 Hey guys

My friend has a G5 which unfortunately keeps locking up on him. Hes not too computer savy so I said Id try and help him resolve this issue before he went to get it checked out by the Mac people.

Baically, since he installed the 'tiger' operating system, his Mac has been freezing up on him (sometimes once per day or two, sometimes a few times per day). It comes up with an error message displayed in a window in the middle of the screen, saying his computer has encountered a problem and needs to restart (or something similar).

I only have experience with PC's, and I initially wondered if this could be a memory issue. We pulled some ram out of his other G5 (not running 'tiger' OS) but the problem still persists.

Any help on this problem would be greatly appreciated, as my friend has quite a workload to get through each week (he is a video editor).

Thanks

PS. Below is the error information

720013 2008-11-13 06:55:00 If he has OS X 10.5 it is Leopard not Tiger.
Did he upgrade to 10.5 from a previous version. It could be a bad install or the way it was done.
A kernel panic can be caused by damaged or incompatible 3rd party software
There are several install options basic Upgrade, Archive and Install, and Erase and Install.
Have a look at this link to avoid issues with updating software.
