503272 2006-11-30 14:21:00 Give it another hundred years and the place will have to be re-colonized.
Did the first one work.

503273 2006-11-30 14:32:00 It is just a cycle that repeats until we run out of time, either by our own neglect (global warming etc) or if we are lucky 5 billion years when the Sun goes nova and no other cosmic mishaps (comets etc).

The Universe also repeats but that won't do any of us any good. Best we can hope for is that we reach an "intelligence critical mass" and start to work together for a better life for all and manage our numbers better, but I don't have high hopes for that.

Too many Stoics (~80%) and not enough Epicureans (~20%) always been that way, always will be, it's part of the Cosmic Joke, cue "maniacal hollow laughter".

503274 2006-11-30 18:13:00 Bainimarama was seriously injured during the coup, and some of the people they want to let off are those who tried to kill him.

Also the backers of the coup attempt were never bought to justice and are behind the latest attempt to give themselves immunity.

I actually think he is doing the right thing. Small societies are easily corrupted, and he seems to be working from principles.

503275 2006-11-30 23:03:00 Dream on, power corrupts, absolute power corrupts absolutely.

These guys are still operating on the gorilla/guerilla executive model.

Haha.

503276 2006-11-30 23:18:00 I agree NetChicken.

The perpetrators/supporters of the 2000 Coup should have no part in the current government.
