721014 2008-11-17 23:09:00 This is bazare. When I enter text into an IEwindow letters and spaces are droppd at random. This only seems to occur when I am onnected through the Teleom Aircard. It doesn't seem to occur when I am connected through my wired Broadband.(The Aircard is for my work). I can type all day into a wor document with no problem.

Above is an example.
Any ideas welcome as it is driving me up the wall.
It has our tame guru stumped.

Dell Inspiron running Vista Business
IE 7 fully updated.

721015 2008-11-18 00:07:00 It must be something to do with the speed of data transfer on the air card.

Still doens't make sense though cause it doens't work like that! :p

I'd clean out temp files (www.ccleaner.com), make sure windows is completley and utterly up to date (including Sp1) and update flash player and java.

You could post a hijackthis (www.trendsecure.com) log and we can have a look through it.

Do you have any toolbars installed? Yahoo is known for slowing things down a bit.

If you run IE in no addons mode does it still happen?

That should keep you going for a while! :D

Thank Wratterus

It happens as I am typing so Air Card speed is not the problem.
Run CC Cleaner regularly.
Running Java 6
Toolbars instaled are google and AVG. (AVG installed by work so please dont suggest changing it cause it aint gonna happen LOL)

721017 2008-11-18 01:21:00 Looks ok to me, but you can tick these then tick fix checked

Close browsers

You're using this at a court?

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [SunJavaUpdateSched] "c:\Program Files\Java\jre1.6.0\bin\jusched.exe"

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [ISUSScheduler] "C:\Program Files\Common Files\InstallShield\UpdateService\issch.exe" -start

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [ISUSPM Startup] C:\PROGRA~1\COMMON~1\INSTAL~1\UPDATE~1\ISUSPM.exe -startup

How many wireless things have you got on this?? It looks there's one by Dell, and one by Sierra

I would uninstall / disable Windows defender

Go to start/run wherever it is and type iexplore –extoff

Or program files / Accessories / IE (no addons)

721018 2008-11-18 01:25:00 Ok, nothing nasty, run HJT again and remove the following...

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [SunJavaUpdateSched] "c:\Program Files\Java\jre1.6.0\bin\jusched.exe"

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [ISUSScheduler] "C:\Program Files\Common Files\InstallShield\UpdateService\issch.exe" -start

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [ISUSPM Startup] C:\PROGRA~1\COMMON~1\INSTAL~1\UPDATE~1\ISUSPM.exe -startup

O13 - Gopher Prefix:

A suspect would definitley be the AVG toolbar. That can be removed without removing AVG, in fact if I ever install AVG I don't install that toolbar it'a a bit of a pain, increases the startup time of IE by a few seconds too.

Don't do that yet though, easiest way in vista to run IE with no addons is to right click on the IE icon on the desktop and select 'Start Without Add-ons'.

If you don't have an icon on your desktop, click the Start button , click All Programs, click Accessories, click System Tools, and then click Internet Explorer (No Add-ons).

I'd get rid of Windows Defender too if you can, it doesn't do anything except slow the PC down. Spyware Terminator or SUPERAnti Spyware is a good replacement.

Edit - dammit Speedy! Too quick... ;)

721021 2008-11-18 09:34:00 Maybe try another browser?
Like Firefox or Opera?
They offer many more features than IE

721022 2008-11-18 10:05:00 Thanks for the suggestion but the computer is provided by my work and the database is in Wellington and access to it is set up in IE so that is a nono.
BTW I have firefox on my own 'puters and love it.
