720932 2008-11-17 19:29:00 Does anyone know what speeds can we be expecting for Key's "Fibre to the home", when it releases? davidmmac (4619)
720933 2008-11-17 19:37:00 If John has his way it will be fast and cheap.

If the ISP's have their way it will be slow and expensive.

Having fought for change for more than a decade and invested $1.5 billion in infrastructure, we're very excited about the future - as you may have seen in our recent full-page newspaper advertisements.

Thanks for choosing us.

Now, 1.5 billion to do Wgtn and Ch/Ch, and John Key thinks it will now cover the entire country?!

720936 2008-11-17 19:58:00 Thats my problem with it.

If you live in a decent sized city then yeah, youll be fine. but what about everyone else? We'd better get some decent ADSL2+ or there will be hell to pay.

720937 2008-11-17 19:58:00 I guess JR doesnt expect us to pay for it all......private\commercial businesses may have to cough up... SolMiester (139)
720938 2008-11-17 19:59:00 Fibre runs @ gigabyte speeds for the record... SolMiester (139)
720939 2008-11-17 20:01:00 It's not the connection to the home that's the problem, it's the connection from NZ to the rest of the world.

But in saying that we will have fibre going past our house very soon. :D

720940 2008-11-17 21:25:00 Why do we need fiber?

Surely reliable ADSL2/Cable would do?

What the hell will we all do with fiber? My best bet is just more porn.
