2008-11-17 01:43:00 | I'm running Win XP Pro and had been using Windows Live Messenger Beta version for several months without problems. Suddenly the program disappeared (perhaps due to finger problems?)and no matter what I do- downloading new versions etc I can't get a version that will work. I did however find an early version of Windows messenger 4.7.300 which is very very basic. But when I go to download a new version of Windows Live, I get a message which says "you have a more recent version of this on your computer- so remove it before you can continue." The problem is,I can't find the program they are referring to anywhere. I am totally confused.:o | granpa (2631) | |

2008-11-17 11:14:00 | Hi granpa. Try this: C:\Program Files\Windows Live\Messenger\msnmsgr.exe Bantu: You have posted the directory link to Messenger Plus Live, a third party extension for Windows Live Messenger. The poster is seeking help for the latter, not the former :)

2008-11-17 19:41:00 | The folder I posted had an uninstall in it which would then have allowed him to reinstall a new version, I just forgot to add that bit as a client walked in part way through when I was posting. Sorry about that. | Bantu (52) | |

2008-11-17 21:37:00 | Bantu, I am confused - the earlier posting you sent referred me to C Drive / Program Files / Messenger Plus! Live but as i mentioned I can not find that anywhere on my computer- it seems to have totally disappeared! Similarly i cant find C:\Program Files\Windows Live\Messenger\msnmsgr.exe either! | granpa (2631) | |

2008-11-18 00:26:00 | Hi Bantu- yes I tried that but I had recently disabled it and so that avenue was closed. However I have used the suggestion by Beeswax 34 and after inserting the reccommended code line in Run- it finally got rid of the hidden WLM files and I was able to instal a new version. Thanks heaps guys for all your very useful suggestions. | granpa (2631) | |
