| 720452 | 2008-11-15 22:50:00 | I want to have 2GB of RAM in my computer, but I am unsure if it is better to have 2x 1GB chips of ram, or 1x 2GB chip? The motherboard has 4 slots. Thanks in advance | davidmmac (4619) | ||

Thanks in advance. If you have XP 32bit or Vista 32bit OS then: 2 x 1 gig so you get to have 2 gig in Dual Channel. OR 2 x 1 gig sticks and 2 x 512mb sticks for 3 gig in Dual Channel. But if you have XP 64 bit or Vista 64bit OS then: 2 x 2 gig sticks for 4 gig in Dual Channel. I have XP Pro 64 bit with 8 gig in Dual Channel!!!:) Ps. Also check how much memory your motherboard will let you take.Check out its website for info on this as well!!! |
