504418 2006-12-05 08:33:00 currently, i'm using Xtra GoLarge for my internet. While they boasts high speed and unlimited download, my internet surfing session has never been easier than this. However, as for downloading files, the speed goes down drastically compared to the times before i changed the plan. From the average speed of 60kbps, it decreases to 5-15kbps.

so basically, if i opened a website, it loads REALLY fast (also enhanced by FireFox's FasterFox plugin). but if i download something over the internet, the speed kinda disappoints me. is it just me or does it also applies to other people?

504422 2006-12-05 08:57:00 whoaaa, i never expect 3 replies in a blink! thanks for the input guys =)

although i did forgot to mention that...for me, the speed is extremely VARIABLE. it can go from 15kbps to a @$$-whooping (i just can't find a good adjective to describe my feelings haha) 300kbps (yes, it happens and its the fastest i ever get) on HTTP download. too bad my internet connection went 'high' only for 2 days, after that, the speed goes down.

Yeath, everyone has had/ still has this same problem, but I am lucky at the moment I am getting 200 – 400 KB/s .

504424 2006-12-05 09:19:00 wow, fast reply, once again =)

so....do you have any thoughts on what's causing this? i'm no expert on computer, but i know that ppl on GoLarge plan aren't paying for variable speed, they want HIGH speed, as advertised.

but meh, the unlimited offer is good, fortunately, its not DIAL-UP and unlimited. i'd pull my hair off if it is

I think we cover this in this thread: pressf1.co.nz (start from that page & work your way back & you should be able to find out)

But in a nutshell its Telcome / Xtra’s network & how poplar Go large is.

PS: if your having speed problems with Xtra go large make sure you loge a complaint with Xtra & keep at them & after a few weeks your speeds will get better.
