2006-12-04 17:30:00 | What's remarkable here is that we're not talking about paying tax on any virtual earnings that are converted into real world cash (as is the case today), but paying tax on virtual profits even while they remain virtual. (blogs.zdnet.com):angry  :stare: :illogical According to my fav Star-Trekkian, Mr. Spock: "The sum of the parts must equal the whole".........

2006-12-04 18:50:00 | How inane. What exactly would the IRS do with all those virtual cheques for amounts of virtual money that can't be used outside the game? Cash them in at a virtual bank? Will they have ingame debt collectors? If so, what a target for player killers. Fair enough taxing people who sell online game equipment on ebay for profit, but taxing within a game is ridiculous. Bureaucracy gone wild.

2006-12-04 22:43:00 | So what would the virtual punsishment for tax evasion be? Will accountants and lawyers need to be introduced to keep track of one's obligations? | george12 (7) | |
2006-12-04 22:48:00 | We had a visiting lecturer from Australia here saying some polytechs overseas (which have a seond-life presence) are starting to charge Linden dollars instead of real dollars for courses. | DRHILL (3490) | |
2006-12-04 23:17:00 | Let me write that all down with my VP (virtual pen) on my VP01 (virtual paper) and send it to my VA (virtual attorney) and see if the VJ (virtual judge) can get me a VD (virtual deal) and opt me out in a VRO (virtual roll-over). | SurferJoe46 (51) | |
2006-12-05 02:58:00 | Does anyone here actually play Second Life? If so, can you make much out of it? That would convert to say, $10+us a week of real money? | george12 (7) | |
