Get a can of air from DSE or somewhere and spray in the vents, I guess.

If you have techs then it's probably a good idea for them to do it. Remember, you bought the computer and they're offering you a consumer service. They shouldn't even need to start it up if you tell them it's just a basic clean.

Having the vents clear often isn't enough. Have them well clear. A surface that doesn't retain heat has yet to be invented, so keep it raised if you can. Some books under it often help. Remember that laptops aren't designed to play games... unless they're gaming laptops.

Yeah ill try get one of those air cans. The Techies are seriously stubborn. everyone that has been to them has complained. The surface i have my computer on is very cool compared to the actual computers temperature. My computer is anything but a gaming laptop, thanks to the school. They probably made it so it would over heat if i try to play a game. Ah well, better luck for when i get a new laptop.

Thanks everyone

720780 2008-11-18 06:55:00 Firstly, you haven't met our technicians. They are real lazy and if they fix that it will take ages and they will probably search my computer and find all my illegal stuff :D jk....
I am playing on a flat surface that retains no heat. The air vents are always clear.
Although, this problem did first occur when i was playing with it on my lap, and since then it has being getting more and more easy to overheat... :waughh:

So, the laptop isn't yours.......! I am sure then it is for student work, not for gaming and this is why you cant take it to the tech!....unauthorised software installations?....LMAO.....play @ your peril.....!

720781 2008-11-18 07:07:00 Don't worry Sol-basically, we, as students buy the laptop but we have to sign an agreement that we can't do naughty stuff or install cracked software on it.

But-everyone still does :p

IT techs to random checks though.....which is where truecrypt and external hard drives are so popular:D

There was a thread on this a while ago. It's his lappy, but the school has a certain type that they sell, and then have support for this.

Sounds extortionate to me. But from what I've heard extortion's par for course in private schools.
