| 720872 | 2008-11-17 08:05:00 | Hi, a week or so ago I asked if installing SP3 killed the connection to the 'net. A number of helpers replied, and I thought I'd fixed it. But no. Actually, I hadn't installed SP3, it failed after starting to down load. As a result of the help from my last enquiery everything seemed to go well. I got 'pings' from the right places and my live Linux CDs continue to connect. What seems different now, is that when I start XP, I get a pop up saying that XP isn't activated. Can being unactivated stop getting the internet. Thanks again for the help I got last time; I'd appreciate any comments. Cheers.....................sarum |

Windows updates are another matter - it wont allow those until activation is done. |

So, the grandkids and others are going to have to get with it and use Linux. I'll give 'em each a DVD-R with Puppy installed and show them how to re-master. I use Ubuntu, and I'll not be sorry to getting rid of something I shouldn't have..........................sarum | sarum (6222) | ||
