2008-11-19 20:24:00 | I have just recently moved from Xnet to Xtra, and, while I greatly enjoy the consistent International speed increase, I find my traffic usage has gone up greatly. With Xnet I averaged around 2GB/mth but my traffic with Xtra is nudging 3GB for three weeks. Looks like double to me and I certainly haven't changed my usage patterns that significantly. Just wondered if anyone else had noticed anything similar or had some insight as to why this should happen. PS Thanks, Beeswax, I am now running Tautology BB meter. Guess it will only tell me what I already know, though:(

2008-11-20 00:25:00 | Hi linw, Perhaps check with Telecom what traffic you are being charged for. I know that Xnet didn't charge for email and for some local sites so that might be the prob. Cheers LL

2008-11-20 02:18:00 | I'm fairly sure telecom charges for all data, national or international. xnet used to have totaly free national traffic, but now it is for specefic servers only. I believe these are that of the Recoil/Gameplanet websites, and their files, and servers. If you use any of those for gaming etc, you would have an increase in data usage there...both up and down

2008-11-20 08:01:00 | Who in the right mind would switch from an independent ISP to Xtra ? It is well know that their service is poor. That their plans are full of hidden traps That their advertising is misleading And there are faster ones as every survey shows.

2008-11-20 19:32:00 | Nothing like a closed (and arrogant) mind, Digby. You certainly know all there is to know about ISP's - not. But, perhaps, you have not experienced what torrenting has done to the experiences of many other ISP users. I did say I moved from Xnet. | linw (53) | |
2008-11-20 19:54:00 | torrenting is easier on xtra than xnet more speed i noticed  | Silver_Blade (10144) | |

2008-11-21 10:39:00 | I do have to admit to thinking that its kinda weird moving from Xnet to Xtra.. but each to their own I guess. Im with Orcon, and have never really found torrenting to be much of a hassle. Then again, I don't mind allowing a torrent to run overnight, or a day or 2 (not that they need to anyway)
