504802 2006-12-07 05:28:00 As wmoore said, there is no such thing yet, we may see this next year or in a few years time…. stu161204 (123)
504803 2006-12-07 05:31:00 You will have to wait for Telecom to release their VOIP service before Naked DSL will even start. Which means we have to wait wait wait. Can't wait though. Shave $50 off my bills a month? I'm all for it. trinsic (6945)

$50?

Since the basic infrastructure remains, but you don't get connected to the POTS part of the exchange, I would consider that the bill would drop by $5 or $10 a month at most. After all you are still using everything but a bit of the exchange electronics, same network and cabling, building to house the DSLAM, backhaul network.

Your view seems to be that you will not pay any "line charge", but that would be a fantasy?

504806 2006-12-07 18:51:00 Oh well just thought I'd ask.

Is wireless a viable alternative in Hamilton? Is Woosh the only service available here?

It could be depending if there is any wireless service providers there

Is Woosh the only service available here?

Don’t know sorry, try looking at sites like: www.internetchoice.co.nz/ http: & www.netguide.co.nz

And see if there are any small wireless service providers there (you got to keep you eyes open for them)

504808 2006-12-09 02:40:00 GF forgets that although it will not use part of the exchange equipment, the exchange equipment still has to be there. Administration charges and "returns to shareholders" will mop up any reductions.

Ever hear the story of the "Emperor's New Clothes"?

This will be the saga of the Emperor's new ADSL.
