506220 2006-12-14 20:46:00 Hmmm ... With "Adblock" and "No-Script" running I see no ads still.

All these online news sites hoping to make revenue from "me" and others are sorely mistaken.

506221 2006-12-14 21:13:00 I agree with Metla, too much content on the page and the layout does not make for easy reading. Those with dialup will find it very slow to load compared with the old version which was very quick.

For comparison have a look at the new look Stuff site which is far superior in my opinion

Ditto. I don't like the new-look NZ Herald at all, it is way too cluttered. Stuff has done a much better job of their upgrade. Hopefully their news items will gain a little more depth to them so I can switch from NZH.

506222 2006-12-14 22:56:00 Ah, but the Herald site uses environmentally friendly recycled pixels, so they are a bit slower :groan: R2x1 (4628)
506223 2006-12-15 00:01:00 Stuff.co.nz looks good, Clear headlines with just enough blurb to see if the story is of interest, All headlines in the one area and easily identified as news, sports, Business, Entertainment. More modern looking then the last build which was nearly amaturish in places.

Overall, Top work.:D:thumbs:

506224 2006-12-15 03:40:00 I'm still to figure out what's wrong with tables.

Your not the only one Greg :)

I'm guilty of using tables myself,

Don’t worry me & Greg are in the same boat as you :)

506225 2006-12-15 07:01:00 Glad I'm not the only one disappointed with NZHerald. I even sent some feedback and got a reply from someone that works there.

Edit: Stuff looks MUCH better. Simple and not too cluttered and vertical stories instead of horizontal :)

506226 2006-12-15 11:05:00 Looking at both sites, my vote would have to go to Stuff. The herald is to
clutered and the layout does my head in.

506227 2006-12-17 07:23:00 Why? I thought every Windows machine had Windows Media Player installed .

PCs do although I prefer QT myself

506228 2006-12-17 07:59:00 I cant see any reason why they should duplicate all media just to placate 0.0001 percent of users. Metla (12)
506229 2006-12-17 09:00:00 Actually the latest figures would make that just over 5% (plus any Windows users that don't like/use WMP), but lets stay on topic. ;)

I personally don't mind the new NZ Herald website. It gets a bit busy in the bottom half, but I like the top half slightly better than Stuff. :)
