| 505396 | 2006-12-10 06:31:00 | Im also considering getting a GT Legacy, or maybe an RS, but im just not sure anymore since I've had several people telling me not to due to them being very high maintenance and thirsty :o You're worried about being thirsty when you already own a Holden??? :stare: Legacy's aren't really high maintenance, you've just got to service them regularly, in fact I read somewhere recently that they are one of the 'more reliable' newer cars on the road. |

| 505397 | 2006-12-10 08:45:00 | starving of air?? depends on if your talking petrol or deisel. Petrol, if its short of air, it will suck petrol 11l per 100k....depends on what motor/vechile your talking. i doubt any supercharged big block V8 will do that ;) Supercharged 3.8L V6 prone to overheating ?? turbo's aren't prone to overheating. erh, the heat is what kills the oil...etc the good thing with superchargers is no lag and often good boost down low (depending on supercharger type). but because they are run directly off the motor they cost a fair bit of power (fuel) to run. some vechile have bypasses on the superchargers so its bypassed while cruising. its even better when the supercharger is intercooled :thumbs: Yes! turbo's, exspecially on diesels, tend to be a lot more econmical for the power output...diesels...LOL! |

| 505399 | 2006-12-11 22:35:00 | Supercharged 3.8L V6 i'm suprised its ecomomy is that good. must be the driver ;) starving of air?? depends on if your talking petrol or deisel. Petrol, if its short of air, it will suck petrol not sure what you mean. petrols work by staving it of air ie throttle. if you mean it flows poorly at the top end which can make the fuel economy go poor but thats more to do with individal motors rather than superchargers. you can get the same problem with superchargers. .diesels...LOL! don't laugh to loud, my diesel has got around the same tourqu as your superchargerd v6, unfortunatly just not the same rev range. i would like to see what your fuel bill is like pulling 5 ton or vechile and load ;) |

Its usually cruises @ 10-11L per 100K, however the extra weight knocked it up to 13-15L....!! And with a staved (air, poor air cleaner, mix etc) motor, it will draw more petrol to compensate. I guess I was trying to quantify that force air induction can be more fuel efficient. |

I guess I was trying to quantify that force air induction can be more fuel efficient. thats normall with any type of motor. funny enough turbos can get a double wammy as the turbo can go rather inefficient when it cant grip the air. super chargers are better in that respect. forced iduction motors are more volumtric efficient, however that dosn't neccarly mean fuel efficient. 13-15l per 100k with 2 ton load isn't to bad. mind you a car is a bit lighter than my ute and i'll bet your roads are a lot flatter than whats around here. |

| 505403 | 2006-12-25 09:43:00 | thanks for your input guys, I got me a timer for $80 and installed it easily looks like its had one before so now i dont have to sit there n wait like i was doing choice | tahstar (11595) | ||
| 505404 | 2006-12-25 11:15:00 | And they didn't even try to sell you one for each turbo ? ;) | R2x1 (4628) | ||
| 505405 | 2006-12-25 17:48:00 | Got a neighbor who retrofitted one of these as a reservoir, keeping the turbo bearings oiled and cooled at shut down.... www.amsoil.com ...the original design is for startup, but he just modified the wiring to make it work in reverse. |
