506036 2006-12-12 17:48:00 I have an Acer at the moment, and am not very happy with it at all (in terms of my new criteria for judging laptops).

506037 2006-12-12 19:47:00 I love my Dell Inspiron. It keeps my knees warm. :) blip (11606)
506038 2006-12-12 21:35:00 Both my sister and I have a Dell inspiron 6400, We both have had no problems. I use mine for Uni and also as the home computer where it gets used alot by my partner and flatmate. I would have had to pay an extra $500 plus for the specs in my Dell if it were another brand pinkygirl (11122)
506039 2006-12-13 03:53:00 and what is your criteria?

As I mentioned above:

Size, battery life.

506040 2006-12-13 04:27:00 Dell Inspiron 6400 15.4inch is not at all 'chunky' - it fits easily into a laptop case and is easy to carry. It has a strong outer case and the lid is firm to latch and open. The touch mouse pad is very sensitive and can be set to perform many different options - like - page back/forward - scroll - etc. The stereo sound is far superior to our P.C. and a bluetooth module is available if needed. The battery life is over three and a half hours. Oldferix (5581)

506042 2006-12-26 01:28:00 Just a quick update:

I have gone ahead and ordered this laptop, upgrading to plenty of RAM and HDD space, plus an extra battery (total of around $2400).

It's on its way, so I'll post back when it arrives.

506043 2006-12-26 02:04:00 Goodluck somebody. Don't forget to go for the FREE AVG and Kerio Firewall or something similar to keep your costs down unless you have factored that in already? winmacguy (3367)

I specifically opted to not get Nortons or McAfee - for obvious reasons.

506045 2006-12-26 03:30:00 :) Otherwise it would have put your costs up another $100+ would would have made a 13" MacBook @ $2,079 look like a bargin.
Its alright, you can relax, I am not trying to sell it to you I am just using it as a price comparison.
