504999 2006-12-08 04:04:00 But if its not such a bad idea............ and i dont think i said it was a bad idea, i just said not many positives??? just going by past heated conversations about oz / nz relations i was thinking.

Then why has it not happened at all up till now? if the idea has been proposed before...........why did it never get past the ideas stage? what puts a halt to it?

i cant say that ive heard of it before........ but that doesnt mean it wont happen, i just cant see it being a nz / oz thing........... a worldwide currency seems a far better idea to me.............so all money is of the same value and no matter where you go, you can spend it.

and really i dont think nz and oz will ever be best mates....... the rivaly has always been strong.............so who would be willing to give in first and agree to work together on this? them or us? i just think that if its meant to be that great...........why has some genius not done it already?

505000 2006-12-08 04:37:00 Well if they ever do decide to merge our currency with Australia's they had better use our notes and coins and not theirs. Having recently spent almost three weeks over there it was a real pain having to examine each $1 and $2 coin to ensure I was handing over the right one and I am still doing it out of habit. Instead of their $2 coin being larger than the $1 coin as ours is it is the reverse and very confusing for the first week or so.

I'm now also used to our smaller coins but they still have large coins for 20c and 50c which made the old purse rather heavy after a while.

Utopia: That this forum is full of old men and young adolescent boys .
SurferJoe46: As one of that group, I wonder how one tells one from the other?
