722384 2008-11-23 23:56:00 Hi everyone, when I click on the internet icon on the desktop, internet explorer takes a while to open my default page. Does anyone know why this is?
I have an AMD Quad, 4mb Ram and broadband. It was never like this until two weeks ago when my avast discovered a trojan virus and deleted it. I've since run avast on the safe mode and also spybot. Help.

722385 2008-11-24 00:00:00 You use Internet Explorer (IE) for your web browser?

Do you have many toolbars installed?

Try typing iexplore.exe -extoff into the run box and see if IE opens quickly then.

Post a HijackThis (www.trendsecure.com) log and we can see whats happening on your PC. :)

722386 2008-11-24 01:20:00 I'm using IE7. I typed in iexplore.exe -extoff and IE opened up straight away with the message: "Internet Explorer is currently running without ad ons." How can I remove ad ons and or toolbars? kfoffice (9242)
722387 2008-11-24 01:27:00 Good.

Like I said before, post a hijackthis log.

722389 2008-11-26 08:19:00 I don't know what I did but I must have removed some toolbars and now it's a little bit faster. kfoffice (9242)
722390 2008-11-26 08:31:00 You've got a rogue AV program. Tick these entries then tick fix checked

Close browsers

722391 2008-11-26 08:37:00 You have quite a few nasties, update and scan with MBAM and Spyware Terminator. Scan with Avast! too, since you already have it. Turn off system restore first.

Tick these and click fix checked. Close all browser windows.
