721940 2008-11-22 08:17:00 Despite numerous attempts using various methods, I am unable to maintain Outlook Express as my default messaging program.
I ask it to reset and it seems to do so but when checked again, it is not.
I am using IE7.
I need the default setting so I can email pictures from Picasa using Outlook Express. It only gives me the option of using Gmail, which I don't want to use.
I did have Microsoft Outlook installed which gave me that option but I have since uninstalled that program in an attempt to make the system default to Outlook Express with no success.
Any bright ideas please.

721941 2008-11-22 08:30:00 Have you tried Control panel>Add/Remove Programs>On left pane select "Program access and defaults">Click Custom>Select OE>Untick "Enable access to this program" for all the other ones>Click OK

Cheers:D

721942 2008-11-22 21:53:00 Tried that one. Under "Choose a default e-mail program", the only choice I have is "Use my current e-mail program". No mention of OE.
Under "Choose a default instant messaging program", I have "Use my current instant messaging program" I don't use it anyway.

Any other ideas

721943 2008-11-22 21:59:00 In OE go to Tools/Options
Default messaging programs at the bottom - Click on Make default.

721944 2008-11-22 23:04:00 Thanks Safari.
Tried all that standard stuff. It says it makes it default after clicking apply and OK but next time I check, it is back to "NOT default"

There is something more complicated wrong, I'm afraid.

721945 2008-11-23 01:12:00 I am guessing you have a Gmail account? Have you tried going into the Gmail settings and see if there is a box to untick somewhere? It may be set as default and not letting OE save the change to default.

Cheers LL

721946 2008-11-23 01:46:00 Can't see anything there that might affect it. Problem is in computer OE settings somewhere. In "Programs" under Internet Options, I can't even find OE in the email drop down list - just blank. Something missing somewhere. oigle (14345)
