507702 2006-12-18 09:24:00 Hey, is wireless decent enough for Skype and the odd download such as a game demo or a Windows Vista download? How much can the speed fluctuate with bad weather? Are zones in place, or are you not penalised that you can take the laptop on a cross country car ride like in the Xmas (per say)?

Possibly getting a 5 or 10GB plan. No unlimited thanks no matter how good pple have experienced. :p

On the other hand, for ADSL wired solutions, are there any ISP that does not require you to spend $10 or a particular minimum amount without making you to cough up. I think Telstra PDQ say if you don't spend any tolls they make you cough up $10, and if you spent $9, they make you cough $1.

Thanks.

507703 2006-12-18 09:38:00 I don't need the roaming wireless at all, but just interested in wireless, it could mean a good option. Cannot alter the phone number at home thou for the landline that will be too awkward w/ such as Woosh phone number.

Hey, with ADSL can one person go on a holiday and then at the motel or a friend's place and hook up with their (same) login name and this will work?

507704 2006-12-18 21:41:00 Sort of answered my own question. Vodem is pricey at $50 for 1GB, Woosh is not supported in my area. That about says it. Checkmate. So its any of the ADSL ISPs. Telecom here I come, I'm your lap-dog. LOL. Nomad (952)
507705 2006-12-19 02:49:00 Check out wired country...I run VOIP over this and works fine speeds seem to be okay at present Maverick (11634)

507707 2006-12-19 03:39:00 I'm in Welly. Checked the Woosh site and its not available.
Telstra has cable I think (need to double check) but its pricey.

507708 2006-12-19 04:13:00 Telstra appears to be free connection for 2yr contract. They need a phoneline for the cable broadbands. Does Telstra have a different phone number? Not really in a position to change our phone numbers.

My maths Telstra and Telecom are about the same price, the thing for us is that to have World TV (under Sky) with Telstra its compulsory to have Saturn TV as well so that puts it a few dollars more than the Sky/Telecom combo. Telstra does have more worth it if a person is a high user that is 20GB or more.

Here's a thing. If I get 4Mbit 10GB from Telstra and a phoneline and then get WTV from WTV/Sky without Saturn TV that puts me $6-7 less than Telecom/Sky or $10 less than all Telstra approach. I may look at packages with Telecom and with Sky and see how they stack up.

By the way how is the cable internet? I guess its a bit more reliant onto one ISP when you cannot swap like with ADSL.
