| 507447 | 2006-12-17 08:20:00 | Are there any Hard Drive DVD recorders with two tuners in them on the market in NZ, so that it is possible to record two channels at the same time? | Andrew B (867) | ||

You can find the OpenMedia - myPVR (openmedia.co.nz) one here, but it is a media centre computer rather than a pure DVD hard drive recorder. You get a heap more flexiablity with having an ethernet connection on it as well. It also runs on Linux. | Jen (38)

For dual tuners you should be looking at a PVR (either MPEG 2 for satellite or MPEG 4 for digital terrestrial - that's my understanding of how Freeview will be transmitted). | maccrazy (6741)

I see it mentions you can use the USB port to transfer recorded files to your computer though. The 80 gig hard drive is on the small side too so make sure you can upgrade that. | Jen (38)
| 507452 | 2006-12-17 22:31:00 | It might fit your needs Andrew, but as Jen says, it doesn't have a DVD recorder built-in (this is typically the case with PVRs). You can use USB to get content off it, but that is a bit of a hassle. You would be better to look for a PVR with network capabilities if you are wanting to put content on DVD regularly, that way you can wire it to your computer and burn DVDs on that. How much are you wanting to spend? |
