507240 2006-12-17 04:07:00 4 inches up on the hill above us right now...none on the ground here.

I think 4 inches whittles out to about 100mm or so.....maybe.

Yeah, but..the longest day of the year in Upsidedown Land is just a few days away, and then the days get shorter, and shorter, and shorter...until you get snowed in again!

In the meantime, our days are gonna get longer and longer and warmer and ...well, it's the same thing every year.

Six days until they start getting shorter!

507244 2006-12-17 07:12:00 We had snow in Edinburgh and I would stand at a bus stop with the snow turned to "slush" and it would steadily seep through my shoes and chill and soak my feet ! Whenever I got homesick (in NZ) I would conjure up this image and my homesickness would disappear !!

Hmmm yes but the weather (as it warm weather) lags about 2 months behind the longest day . . . it takes ages for the sea to warm up etc etc . And in Dunedin you get the benefit of the most feeble summers you will ever experience (although thankfully you can just go inland a bit and actually discover summer) .

507246 2006-12-17 21:00:00 Still, even in winter, what's snow? Auckland has only had snow once - and that was in the 1800s! pcuser42 (130)
