721962 2008-11-22 16:16:00 I just got a Vantec Nexstar 3 External 3.5 hard drive enclosure.
model NST-360UFS-BK

Uses a sata HD, supports USB1.1/2 Firewire400, eSata

put a Seagate 7200.11 in it earlier this evening. seems to work well Very easy to setup open chasis, plug sata hd directly to the header inside insert 4 screws in the under side , connect LED lead, slide chasis in then insert 2 screws in the back to lock it in.

comes with usb cable, esata cable, esata bracket , firewire cable. Manual, power adapter, driver cd (i didnt bother with that)

Price was $120 from pp.co.nz and the 500 gig seagate was $142

No, eSATA is over 3 times the speed of USB 2.0 and firewire

721964 2008-11-22 20:50:00 eSATA is external SATA so it's a SATA plug on the back or front of your comp case gary67 (56)

721968 2008-11-23 10:03:00 had a look at my PC and have found only 4 usb ports and a firewire port at the back , on the front are two usb and one fire port.

i guess eSATA/SATA connection is out of the picture :(

is there a way to add a SATA card to my pc??

721969 2008-11-23 17:26:00 You just need something like this
www.firewire-1394.com

The Vantec unit I bought had one in the box with it. It should be all you need as long as your motherboard supports SATA, most have at least 4 sata ports onboard.
