721781 2008-11-22 04:23:00 What else appears in sounds and audio devices / audio tab?? Under default device.

Since a modem is installed??

If its not on the soundcard, change it to the soundcard

Whats it say under the floppy since there's an X beside it, is it disabled in the BIOS, if there's no floppy?

It looks like the sound drivers are installed, it maybe set to the wrong default device (it maybe on the modem, (which can happen, if its a fax / voice modem, which will be why there's no sound)

721782 2008-11-22 05:54:00 Its set the Microsoft Synthesizer.

Its the only option.

There is no soundcard option.

He disabled the floppy because the flashing light was annoying him lol.

What flashing light?? The LED on the floppy you mean is flashing all the time?

If it is, the floppy cable is connected the wrong way

So, was Audio, enabled in the BIOS??

LOL I know there's a problem speedy:p

Yep, it was flashing.
That seems weird cause it wasn't blinking b4 and he had never taken it apart b4, so the cable repositioned itself?

yes, audio was enabled in bios

He has 7 recovery CDs and he might use them if I don't fix it within a week

721785 2008-11-22 06:30:00 It must be one of these (h10025.www1.hp.com)

Altho, it'll probably be better using the recovery cd's, since thats what theyre for. And the sound will probably work

721786 2008-11-23 06:57:00 Nope, no sound drivers there ???

I might do either a repair install or use the recovery discs

Thanks All
