507412 2006-12-18 23:48:00 Hmmm. I've been using Opera for years now. Still this lastest version will still not play Flash movies from www.scifi.com. Just get window with

"Minimum Video Player Requirements Not Met
Your computer needs the following upgrades in order to use the video player:

Please download Flash Player 8."

Even after installing Flash 8. Tried this on two PCs with Opera installed..

507414 2006-12-19 04:55:00 Why I use Firefox and not Opera as my browser of choice (even though I like Opera it really isn't in the game anymore):

files.myopera.com

507416 2006-12-19 07:06:00 Opera 9.02, the previous version before the final and the final 9.1 crashed on the new Herald site.

Is this when just browsing the news pages links or when viewing multimedia items? I have never had any problems with the NZ Herald site in Opera.

files.myopera.com

That's a great webpage. It confirms that I am not missing a single thing by using Opera instead of Firefox.

Note 2: this list only works one way - it doesn't show the unique features in Opera that are not available in Firefox

That must be because there are too many to list. :p

507418 2006-12-19 07:29:00 Opera - the browser to use when Firefox has a problem on a particular site.

Note: Not often.

It crashes before anything has actually started to download. When I go to the Herald site.

Thats a good question, it wasn't until the Herald site was updated it started crashing. Before the site was updated, it was fine.

I think I'll post a message in Opera's forum, about it.

507420 2006-12-19 10:39:00 I had no problems with Opera 9.1 on the Herald site except it took ages to load all the content. Someone should be shot for that horrible intro page. Very calm with Firefox with Flashblock and NoScript though and loads about ten times as fast as Opera. zqwerty (97)
