722537 2008-11-24 02:38:00 I have an asus 4870x2 with a 1000w power supply. I found recently that when I go to GPUz that crossfire is disbled and performance droped. I uninstalled and reinstall drivers and even run driver cleaner and reinstall and it won't help. anyone else who has a 4870x2 has this problem or know where to point me to solve this. I love this card and would like to use it to the max.

Thanks

722538 2008-11-24 03:10:00 What problem? Crossfire won't show unless you have two 4870x2's.
One is treated as just that - 1 card.

722539 2008-11-24 06:07:00 A bit OT, but when I went to Big Boys Toys recently Playtech had a system running two 4870x2's. I gotta say, damn those things vent out some hot air.

And to think, I thought I have myself a feet warmer with my single 4870!

722540 2008-11-24 07:18:00 No if you have 1 4870x2 then you will have crossfire enabled and performance is good. if it is disabled then it is only a performance of 1 4870. if its 2x4870x2 then its call crossfireX and if another cf card is installed with a single 4870x2 then its call tricrossfire. my problem is sometimes its enabled and most times its disabled. Yes it gives out heat but its designed to run hot so no problem. fans is running alto at 28% and can run at 100% which is loud but cool. In 3dmark2006 I get 11000 on crossfire but if enabled i get 18000 thats why I get only 1 4870 and not 2. any wise people out there.

Thanks

722541 2008-11-24 07:20:00 hey pctek. can you run GPUz and tell me if your 4870x2 shows crossfire as enabled or disabled. I;ve search the web for solutions and found that the performance is in par with my 4870x2 if enabled.

thanks

722542 2008-11-24 20:17:00 No if you have 1 4870x2 then you will have

4870 X2 has internal CrossFire that is automatically enabled by default. However, if you run into games that have issues with multi-GPU setups, you can disable one of the 4870 X2 GPUs by turning off Catalyst AI.
