722067 2008-11-22 21:33:00 Hi Team,
I have just installed (successfully) a Radeon 9250 pro agp video card, the primary output only.

This card has two o/p, primary and secondary.

I only need the primary but every time that I switch on and boot up the PnP feature tries to install the secondary o/p.

How can I stop this ? I have disabled it in cntpnl/system/hardware/device mngr and clicked uninstall but it still persists.

I am running Win2k pro.

Many thanks, Phil.

722068 2008-11-23 00:34:00 You mean its got something like TV out?

If this is what you mean, unplug whatever you've put in the TV out.

You need to disable it, in the video driver settings

If its got more than 1 port / even TV out or similar, you cant stop it from installing drivers for it. Thats why its there

Nothing other than my monitor is plugged in .
At install time I got the option to install two monitors, 1 primary and 1 secondary .

I chose 1 as I don't need or want 2 but PnP keeps trying to install the second .
thats my problem .

722070 2008-11-23 04:08:00 Well if its got more than 1 connection on the card, it'll install whatever, in case you want to use it .

Disable the secondary monitor in the CCC settings

722072 2008-11-23 20:21:00 Catalyst control Center

The drivers for the card you've got

Right mouse on the desktop select it then configure the settings

Did you install the ATI drivers?

Rt clk on D/top only gives the usual active d/top, align icons etc. no CCC

yes, ATI 7.98-040120A-013230-AMI
NVIDIA 71.89
These came with the video board on cd
Cheers,
Phil.

722074 2008-11-23 21:42:00 You shouldnt be using or installing the Nvidia drivers.

Since its not a Nvidia videocard.

Uninstall the Nvidia video drivers, if you installed them

The version of the ATI drivers, you installed then sounds like theyre only the drivers, not the bigger install (which includes the CCC part as
well)

I would uninstall both the ATI and Nvidia drivers, then use something like drivercleaner 1.5 (in safe mode).

And get rid of their entries, and then reinstall the latest ATI drivers, from the ATI site

Hi Silver blade,
I downloaded from the link that you gave above.
Took for ever and a day on my rural dialup but got here OK.
I de-installed the old driver and installed the one above with no trouble.
It did install both pri and sec monitor, I wasn't given the choice on this !
But all is working just fine.
The fact that the secondary is installed doesn't seem to cause any prob's or slowups.
Many thanks,
Phil
