509181 2006-12-24 05:51:00 I joined up on 21 Dec 06 which was also my installation date. I have not installed it yet, I am going to install the router on 25 Dec morning.

I got a letter and it say, "Please be aware billing starts on the scheduled installation date so it's important to call us for setup. Your bandwidth usage is reset on the first day of each calendar month".

Does this mean, I am charged $49.95 for my monthly plan and on 1 January 2007 my 15GB gets resetted, so I only have a week or less than a week to use all that 15GB up or I lose out

509182 2006-12-24 05:54:00 Or is that my own bandwidth usage meter? Therefore it won't be accurate as my cycle starts on 21 of the month but the usage meter starts on the 1st of the month? Nomad (952)

Don’t be surprised that ADSL has not been turn on at your exchange yet, as in one of your other threads there is a back long this time of year for ADSL to be turn on at exchanges.

I think that means that the start of your billing / bandwidth usage starts again at the start of the month.

I Hope this helps :)

509184 2006-12-24 06:25:00 Oh ok ...

I have not yet plugged the filters in yet. I have still been using the phones as they were before and not known any problems in the quality of the phonecalls. Obviously the modem is not plugged in yet. Is this normal or should I get noises in the line when ADSL is turned on and modem is not plugged in?

509185 2006-12-24 06:28:00 If they call you before the end of this month, and say your connected they will only charge you for those days of the month. so say 42.95 = 1 month. say You got connected on the 25th, thats seven days this month you are fully connected.

So (42.95 / 31) * 7 so about $9.69 or so.

509186 2006-12-24 09:49:00 Oh ok .. I have not got a phonecall yet. I got a letter saying installation date was 21 Dec 06. I rang them about it but not sure .. the guy said I am connected on the phone, I asked I thought it takes 2 weeks and he said somtimes its immediate. I will find out tomorrow. First timer doing ADSL connections, are the modem settings easy pezy?

Thanks.

Yes, assuming that the router is set up for you already, all you need to do is log in and input your username@adsl.xnet.co.nz as well as password.

509188 2006-12-24 18:26:00 Now you just have to find 15GB of stuff to download before the 1st of Jan! CYaBro (73)
509189 2006-12-24 22:00:00 Ok guys, Xmas Day morning and I am now connected.
1788 download, 114 upload via the Geoff Palmer's test website link.

Here is a question, where do you plug in Xnet's DNS servers?
For the former question so I can use 15GB in 7 days right? Or is that 15GB/4 = 3.5GB ~~ ?

Its a mess now with wires. Cos we only got one filter, we now working can get some more, thought we needed the wiring service but guess not. The cable provided by our Linksys modem router appears to be the foreign cable head. The plug that goes into the router is the same plug that goes to the wall? Is this a foreign version? I thought it should be more rectangle to it goes straight to the wall. If so, it would of saved me the hassle plugging this thing in my room and the kitchen main phone can still use the normal phone with the filter. At present its filtered phone/internet in the kitchen.

Thanks.

509190 2006-12-24 22:21:00 Looks like DNS is auto, haha. Checked via Linksys screen. ;)
Now I gotta secure it up :p
