722921 2008-11-25 22:34:00 I've never tried to install SP3 by itself, so I wouldnt know if you needed SP1 (if XP had no SP's at all). From within Windows.

SP3 is SS on the cd's here

722923 2008-11-25 22:39:00 Yer I saw it, but since its SS'ed it doesnt need SP1 or 2. As far as I can see.

The install doesnt stop, telling me it needs SP1 or 2 , during the install (clean install)

But yup, now I know you cant install SP3 if no SP has been installed previously :p

It may not work (one way) but it does with the other

722924 2008-11-25 22:43:00 Slipstreaming is OK but I'm not doing it for 1 install as XP Pro doesn't work on all keys the same as most Hm Does.
By the time I made a New CD with SP3 ss, I can have SP1 or 2 + 3 installed. Just looking at it now and about 5 minutes and SP3 will be installing

Not what U are thinking:Separate issue where we installed XP and SP1 was not included so installed SP2 and all sorts went wrong.
All sorted now tho using "autopatch" as mentioed above.

All sorted now tho using "autopatch" as mentioed above. Yeah but the original question was relating to MS Auto update
would MS auto update put everything on including service patches to bring it up to date and if so about how big would the download be ? If doing the updates by MS auto updates, it requires earlier SP Packs, there was no mention of Autopatch in the original question - thats a totally different way to do it.
