509090 2006-12-24 04:03:00 Nah..wait a minute...it isn't Rowan Atkinson I am thinking of...it's Hugh Laurie, and he was on a BBC series that we are currently getting here in the US because of his "House" fame.

Who said anything about Rowan Atkinson?

509091 2006-12-24 04:08:00 What I don't get is that in every US doctor series on TV there are always 3, 4 or 5 doctors attending every patient. Imagine what our hospital system would cost if we had the same. Geeeeez
It can indeed be tricky for some to discern reality, there is a name for that.

509092 2006-12-24 08:16:00 He's brash and seems insensitive...but he's a good doctor....

Here's a clip (BTW: he's an old British TV actor..really!)

www.youtube.com

He is also of Fry and Laurie fame of some years back.

509093 2006-12-24 09:02:00 House is good. It always amazes me how many times they misdiagnose the patient before finally getting whatever obscure aliment correctly identified. Jen (38)
509094 2006-12-24 09:30:00 They seem to be doing that more with the new episodes too. winmacguy (3367)
509095 2006-12-24 09:39:00 Personally I think it has peaked, Now it will just repeat itself and they will write in more personal drama to pad it out. So I dont bother watching it anymore, Though enjoyed the 6 or so episodes I did watch. Metla (12)
509096 2006-12-24 14:45:00 Quick summary for Surfer Joe.
.
Hugh Laurie has been on our TV screens since the mid-80's in a variety of things - mainly comedy (Eg Blackadder way back..) And he's also been in several movies.

That's because he's a British actor & we get British programmes.

"Suddenly" America has discovered him because of House.
But here, we always knew him.

509097 2006-12-24 17:34:00 Probably the same as "throw another shrimp on the bar-b" guy . . . what's his name . . . of "Dundee" fame, although I saw him in a series as a lifeguard/lifesaver where he imbibed great quantities of beer in 55 gallon cans . . . . "Fosters", I think .

Americans are suckers for an accent . . . even in a language they never heard or really doesn't exist . However, we don't like our beer in industrial-strength containers . That's why I sometimes listen to NZ-R (mms://202 . 7 . 7 . 90/rnz-natrad)<not a link> . . . just for the acccent as I usually can't understand a word they are saying .

Witness "Latka Gravis" from "Taxi" fame with Judd Hersch . Latka spoke a language that no-one had ever heard before, but it was cute in the ears of most Americans .

I noted that Laurie was in "Flight Of The Phoenix" (Deux) too . . . . . didn't recognize him until I made this research . . . hah!

BTW: did youse guys get to see the chapter where House gets shot? . . . and gets on the wrong side of a nasty cop? . . . if you're just getting the re-runs of the 1st season, you might not have seen them yet . . . .

But I think you are right about the adding stories-plots outside of the medical parts now . They are hitting the bottom of the bucket for plots and have to add some new blood .
