1433054 2017-03-21 01:32:00 Failed this morning, BUT that's more than likely go t to do with the fact the hardware was being altered here, and several times the internet was down.

Just manually ran updates, coming through just fine now.

1433055 2017-03-21 02:14:00 Two comps went fine, here. Just leave it -sometimes there are biggish pauses. linw (53)

1433057 2017-03-21 03:23:00 Have you tried not worrying about it and letting it do it's own thing? wratterus (105)

So, you bought a product for a specific job, but just leave it alone and let it do it's own thing??

Good suggestion.

Tell that to my BH, thought I would download it while she is doing some wool winding, which is a break from designing upcoming easter/xmas cards, normally does 450 xmas types.

lurking.I'm reasonably sure what wratterus is referring to is carry on doing what ever it is you do, and let it download in the background. You wont even know its doing it unless the Computer is so low spec it slows down on any downloads.

If you know its downloading then by all means keep an eye on the progress and once finished up to you if you want to reboot now or leave it till later.

Once its finished it will sit there waiting. All these people who say W10 auto reboots --- VERY questionable. Never seen it do that unless its outside of the set working hours or they never reboot their computers and even then its usually set for 3am.

This PC is downloading the update now and installing, if it wasn't for the fact I started it I would never know it was doing it.

Edited: Heres what I mean, just checked, no idea how long its been sitting waiting.

1433061 2017-03-21 06:03:00 This is Hogwash the way they are handling Updates.

Taking hours to download and install defies belief.

Two nights ago I turned on my laptop that I travel with.

I haven’t changed it to Linux because it has Telstra Mobile programmes on it and I have no idea if they will work on Linux because I’ve never tried them, as I need to be in Aus.

Anyway, when I went to shut it down up come the message “Do not turn the power off Configuring Windows” or whatever. So I left it on. When I got up in the morning it wouldn’t turn on. WTF, the battery was dead flat. Attached the Power Pack and it booted normally but when I went to close down a same message “Do not turn your computer off configuring Windows” or whatever.

Imagine if you drove home at night and you car brings up a message “Do not turn this car off, configuring EFI”. So you leave it running and in the morning you’ve run out of gas.

Or imagine if you’re travelling on an airline and you tell the authorities you can’t turn your Laptop off because it’s updating. Good luck with that one.

It’s simply mindless rubbish from a company who should know better. :(
