| 1432907 | 2017-03-16 10:13:00 | On a friend's Toshiba laptop running Windows 8.1 a kernel security check error occurred. I got her to run scannow and it came up with the following, "Verification 100% Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some of them. Details are included in the CBS.Log windir\Logs\CBS\CBS.log. For example C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CBS.log. Note that logging is currently not supported in offline servicing scenarios. C:\Windows\system32>Windows. 'Windows.' is not recognised as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file. C:\Windows/system32> C:\Windows/system32>" Not sure what this means, the laptop is Toshiba around 1 year old, I think just out of warranty period. I haven't yet looked in the Event viewer or the CBS log but will do so maybe next week. I will be away for the weekend, back Monday. The error has occurred twice in the past few days. Any suggestions as to what might be going on much appreciated Cheers, LL |

Wouldn't worry about the error either unless it happens again . Windows . with a full stop is of course not recognised . Why this would be in the startup I don't know though, check startup files and task scheduler to see if it exists there and delete it if so . |

Its a software related problem, the systems got some sort of corruptions. Warranties DONT cover software. What you can do is first open a CMD as Admin, type in: Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /CheckHealth Also run Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /ScanHealth Depending on what it finds will depend on whats next. BUT if it finds corruptions, it will say if it can be repaired or not. if it finds corruptions run: Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth IF it comes up with a message saying it cant find the source file ( similar wording) you'll need a Windows 8.1 DVD or USB with W8.1 on it. The commands after that will depend on what media is required. NOTE: Sometimes certain commands appear to stop at 20% for some time, This is normal, it is actually working, just leave it alone to finish. |
