| 1432025 | 2017-02-19 04:35:00 | When I was a chemist in labs, we used litmus paper strips/stick to measure alkalinity/acidity of fruits. You just stick them in and note the change of color which would indicate the pH. But more accurate fancier equipment would be a hand held digital PH "puncture probe" tester (some do extra readings, e.g. moisture, temp, hardness, etc). Or a refractometer (goo.gl) (images) - a neat - but expensive little scientific gadget usually for sugar content but some for acidity. | kahawai chaser (3545) | ||

The theory is, it increases the uric acid. I would do my own experiments on it, eliminate all the suspect foods, then add them back one at a time. A slow and drawn out process but I've found this before with other things (Migraines, eczema -with my son when small) it doesn't always work. Anyway there is a list of stuff that is meant to aggravate it. The low acid tomatoes really are. Not my preference in taste, it is noticeable the difference, and there are various varieties around now, loads of seeds avaialble. |
