1431351 2017-01-30 01:12:00 For several years now crowds have been down at the once iconic Wellington Sevens

NZ Rugby is desperate for a solution.

Its easy.
The local council killed the party with their PC fun police, no drinking policies.
And maybe the ticket prices are now too high.

What they should have done is made some areas "family friendy" with no alchol.
And then everyone could have had a good time.

1431352 2017-01-30 01:45:00 I get the feeling the promoters have even given up on it. There was no clue it was going to be on wandering around the city earlier in the week. the_bogan (9949)
1431353 2017-01-30 02:40:00 People went along there to get dressed up drink copious amounts of piss and have a good time. A lot of them couldn't give a rats arse about the rugby they just wanted to have fun just a good excuse to clip one on.
The promoters wrecked it making it a family event.

1431354 2017-01-30 05:25:00 They could have easily just alloted some areas as "family" alcohol free areas, and let the rest of the crowd get on with having a party. Digby (677)
1431355 2017-01-30 06:38:00 But need strict security control or alcohol consumption/% level regulation. I been to cricket matches (since world series 1979) and many others in the early 80's. Seen girls cheered/whistled at from drunk males, guys having their pants pulled off by their drunk mates. My female cousin worked in one of the food stands - drunk guys were often hitting on her. kahawai chaser (3545)

They did exactly that with security and alcohol consumption regulation. Totally killed the event.
