1432161 2017-04-04 07:43:00 Windows Defender its better than Avira antivirus. Windows Defender is the Microsoft Antivirus. since I'm using Windows Defender its very good Antivirus software never give me any problems working perfectly in windows 10 or 8 you will get it by default otherwise you can download from Microsoft sites its free and good Antivirus.

I have found that both MSE and Defender slow some programs down. They also take ages to scan. I find that my computers are faster with Avira. I used to exempt some software from Defender which insists on scanning them over & over!

Also good to have a decent ad blocker + various plugins for your browser such as ublock origin, ghostery, noscript.

probably more important than AV . Block it before it gets in & block the way they often get in.

In the real world AV often doesnt stop infections , rather it detects afterwards if you're luckly , and if the malware isnt new.
Looking at NOD's log files on a few PC's yesterday : yep malware detected AFTER the file was on the C: . It should have been blocked, otherwise whats the point ?

Im finding Avast causing issues on more PC's now (and scamming more users).
Its no longer the product it once was. Worse than Norton. :-(

1432165 2017-04-06 06:02:00 Have to disagree with that comment, its not as good as they claim .

Over the last month I've worked on three different customers computers that have had the paid Malwarebytes, all up to date and active subscription . Two of them had obvious infections, and here's the WTF!!

All Three of them when running scans manually found and removed the infections .

So the question is, WHY if it has active protection does it still let them through requiring a manual scan to remove ?

Mmmm - a good question!

And one that I should write and ask them, but at this stage I don't have time
