But you have to wonder why they don't check themselves every now and then.

1433157 2017-03-23 03:06:00 Make sure its the correct power Pack for the Laptop.

Not all power packs have the same voltage /Amps. I have a Customers Toshiba here that I ordered a new Power Pack for, the options were 19V but the amps vary between 2.3, 4.6 6.5.

The laptop says on its under side 19V 2.37. If I plug in my 19V 4.6 while it works the power pack does get rather hot and you can see the laptops not liking it, it gets HOT more so than on the Laptop its designed for. Had one the other month back, again Amps to high and the laptop was very unstable, got the right Power Pack, and it worked perfectly.

Cleaned out 7 GB of crap, plus uninstalled a swag of games files. Now running well without battery on my 120W universal power pack.

OS Windows 7 Ultimate 32bit, Service pack1.
Computer is Toshiba Satellite A660 PSAW3T-06K01H
Power 19V 4.74 amp (90W)
Adapter used: 19V 6.3 amp (120W)
Display Nividia GeForce , Sound Nividia HDA Dolby
PCU Intel i5, 4 core @ 2.4 Ghz

1433158 2017-03-23 07:16:00 The Toshiba has a bug! Occasionally when you are about to fill a form field, eg search, and endless string of nnnnnnnnnnnnnnn is entered until Esc is tapped. Not a big problem, but wonder what is causing it. Otherwise all is well. Battery (not fitted at moment) is only 10.8 volts. If this is the case, how does the computer run on it without the charger plugged in? mzee (3324)
1433159 2017-03-23 07:56:00 Most common cause of stuff like that in my limited experience is spill damage in the keyboard, try an external keyboard and see what happens. dugimodo (138)

+1 and you could replace the keyboard if that is the case.

There are magic pixies inside the laptop that the change the voltage (boost/drop) .

There are voltage converters inside the laptop, and it may not actually need 19v to run .
Faulty KB would explain why it was in the bin :)

1433162 2017-03-23 23:41:00 Or it rained after it went into the bin!! linw (53)
1433163 2017-03-25 01:21:00 Now been put in the spares bin. Apart from the keyboard problem, it needs a battery and power pack. Not worth doing.
It has a good hard drive, and 4GB of memory.

1433164 2017-03-25 01:46:00 It was an interesting exercise though. Driftwood (5551)
